That's what we do. Making an over-stuffed, disorganized space organized and usable!
If that was me I would throw away everything except pictures and feel liberated then convert that space into bedroom and watch your property value jump 🎉 Another option is to rent a storage unit they are very cheap
This shows how all people are different in how they relate to their stuff. This client had lived in his house for a long time and had collected all this during that time. He was no longer able to go through and organize this himself.

Storage rooms end up holding everything you don’t need but can’t let go of. The problem when it’s not organized is that you can’t see or get to what you have.

I prefer to watch youtube videos that somebody is demonstrating or talking on top of the video. These are great trips. I would prefer hearing them spoken and then examples given of how to incorporate these things more.

Great filing system and clearly organised. But I think with all the paperless driven organizations today most people would file this electronically.
Yes, you are correct. A lot of people have gone electronic, but we still have clients who like their paper. It is still a good system even for electronic filing.

is filing redundant now? I don't exactly do much, but what I do, do is all in digital format.
Yes, it is redundant for many people, but there are many people who still like paper. You can use the same system to create a digital filing system.
I dunno, but I think the general categories and subcategories are applicable to computer files too (^_^)
senior apartments have very little storage and recently I worked in a nursing home seeing my fellow veterans living in a 150 sq feet or smaller I returned home asking myself some tough questions. It was heart breaking seeing others downsize with so little support.
Yes, I agree. I always advocate people start downsizing early. I believe people should start around 50 years old. You should only keep what's necessary.
I ask myself the following tough questions. Have I used this in the past four months? Could this possibly cause a safety or fire issue in the future? Could this be donated to a worthy cause?
Good questions.
I find some donation regulations so daunting, it is easier to just purge.

Hi my name is tori we own a rescue foundation with over 180 animals and was wondering if we should make a file for each horse and then maybe there medical, ferrier work. Excetera. What do you think? I know everyone wants to go digital but its nice to have the paper work on hand. Any suggestions?

Question: Please help! Im on Medicare, & get frequent statements & summaries from Medicare, my Medicare supplement insurance co, & my drug insurance co. I’m afraid to throw any of it away, but don’t know what they’re for? What do I need to look for on all of these? Which do I need to keep? For how long? THANK YOU!!!
I suggest you work with a Medicare expert to get your questions answers. We are not experts in dealing with Medicare claims. Sorry.

Can you do a filing system for a small business
Good idea. I'll work on it. The system will depend on the kind of small business.
How can I adapt your system to the paperwork of my bookkeeper clients and my sole properties hip where expenses are mixed use
You would need a customized filing system to meet your specific needs.
@@BasicOrganization I do bookkeeping and income tax. And have lots of paper.
@@robbynswiscoski3964 the video is for a personal filing system. For your business, I would have a large file for each client, then separate by tax year.
Thank you so much! I'm setting up this system as I write! One quick question, do you suggest folks use a label maker/print for the manila folders (if using) or do you suggest that your clients just hand write this part?
I would handwrite the manila folders. I think of them as more temporary, while I think of the hanging files as the file structure and more permanent.

How often do you purge the secondary files? what to keep? do you file them by year?
Once a year is probably often enough to purge the files. You should keep anything you need for tax purposes and any vital records. Other than that, it's up to you. As I file paperwork, I put new documents in the front of the folder. That way when I purge the files I know the oldest items are in the back. I hope this helps.
